Frequently Asked Questions
(FAQs) About Therapy
How does online therapy work?
1
Online therapy (also called teletherapy) allows you to meet with your therapist from the comfort of your own space using secure video sessions. All you need is a device with a camera, microphone, and internet connection.
Sessions are held in real time, just like in-person therapy, and are fully confidential. Many clients find online therapy in California to be a flexible and accessible way to get support without the added stress of travel.
Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?
2
Yes- research shows that online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions for many concerns. The quality of the therapeutic relationship and the approach used are what matter most.
Online therapy also offers added flexibility, comfort, and accessibility, which can make it easier to stay consistent and engaged in the process.
Are therapy sessions covered by insurance?
3
We do not directly accept insurance (yet). However, many clients use Health Savings Accounts (HSA) or Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) to pay for sessions.
If you’re unsure about your benefits, we’re happy to help you explore your options and answer any questions before getting started.
What can I expect in the first therapy session?
4
The first session is a space to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, your background, and what you’re hoping for from therapy.
You’ll also have the chance to ask questions and get a feel for whether the fit feels right. This is a collaborative process- we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
How do I schedule an online therapy session?

How do I know if therapy is right for me?
6
You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If something feels overwhelming, unclear, or you’re simply ready for change, therapy can be a supportive place to start.
If you’re unsure, we’re happy to connect for a consultation and help you decide if this feels like the right next step.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before starting. Therapy is a space where we can make sense of things together, at your pace.
