Tet Salva, AMFT, trauma therapist at Tonalli Therapy in Orinda California

Trauma Therapist

Tet Salva is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT) and Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) at Tonalli Therapy & Consulting, seeing clients in-person in Orinda and Walnut Creek, CA, and virtually throughout California. She works with adults and older teens navigating complex trauma, PTSD, intergenerational family wounds, workplace harm, identity-based stress, and couples in need of repair.

About Tet

You're not here because things are fine. You're here because you've been carrying something heavy for a long time — and you're ready for that to change.

Before becoming a therapist, Tet spent 18 years in organizational psychology as a transformation consultant — helping people and teams move through big, messy change. That background shapes everything about how she works. She thinks in systems: family dynamics, workplace politics, the unspoken rules you grew up with and how they follow you into adulthood. She understands how those invisible structures shape you, and she knows how to help you work through them.

Working with Tet is warm but direct. Sessions move somewhere — toward clarity about where your patterns started, what they're costing you now, and what you actually want instead. You don't have to earn rest here. You don't have to perform being okay. You just have to show up.

Tet is supervised by Adriana Martínez, LCSW, Tonalli's founder and Clinical Director.

What Tet Specializes In

Tet works with adults and older teens navigating:

  • Complex trauma and PTSD

  • Intergenerational and family trauma

  • Identity-based harm and workplace trauma

  • Couples repair and rebuilding connection

  • Life transitions and relationship strain from recovery

  • Women's issues and the exhaustion of holding everything together

She also works with couples navigating conflict, disconnection, and rebuilding after rupture — drawing on relational and attachment-based approaches to help partners understand the cycles between them, not just the surface conflict.

How Tet Works

Tet uses a trauma-informed, integrative approach that combines:

  • Psychodynamic therapy to trace where patterns began

  • Narrative therapy to separate you from the problem and rewrite the story

  • Humanistic and person-centered care to center dignity and choice

  • Motivational Interviewing to turn insight into action

  • Attachment-based and relational approaches for couples work

  • DBT and ACT skills for emotional regulation and values-based living

The result is sessions with clear goals, honest feedback, and real movement — not just talking in circles.
